Last week a small yet vocal contingent of players traveled from Vietnam, Indonesia and China to participate in the Hong Kong 12’s tournament.
A strong standard of footy was on display across 6 competitive pool matches. Whilst the two Hong Kong teams squared off in the Grand Final, the international flavour of the day was continued as a number of touring players were imbedded into both sides.
The (Hong Kong) Dark Side Dragons took the trophy after playing consistently good football all day in trying summer conditions.
The day was made possible through the hard work of many individuals behind the scenes. President Mark Mastores and Operations Manager Tim Smith worked tirelessly in executing the logistics and management of the the event. Despite a significant conflict of interest and questionable morals SuperCoach Chris Barr did a great job in directing both Hong Kongteams. Justin Barbaro behind the goals and microphone. Inspirational skipper Dom Dunn for another memorable performance during the post match wrap up.
The umpires; Deano, Wazza and DV all performed to a standard far higher than that seen each weekend in the AFL.
